Seavers in the News -- Lettie M. Seaver (1886-1970) Died in Doylestown, Ohio in 1970

 Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Akron [Ohio] Beacon-Journal newspaper dated 25 December 1970, page 54:

The transcription of the article is:

"SEAVER

"Lettie M., age 84,of 561 High st., Doylestown, passed away December 24.  Survived by two sons, Russell and Ernest, both of Barberton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Martha Hornbeck, of Norton, Mrs. Alice Rector, Mrs. Lois Hughes, both of Akron; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren.  Services will be Monday 1 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church, Doylestown, Rev. Richard Keenan officiating.  Interment Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Doylestown.  Friends may call at the Monbarren Funeral Home Saturday 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and one hour before services at the church."

This obituary identifies her married name, date of death, sons and daughters names and locations, and the church information.

Lettie May Youngker (1886-1970) was born 11 January 1886 in Doylestown, Ohio, the daughter of Jacob Franklin and Clara L. (Weygandt) Youngker.  She died 24 December 1970 in Doylestown.  She married Charles Earnest Seaver (1884-1952) on 11 January 1905 in Doylestown, Ohio.  They had five children:

*  Martha Aurelia Seaver (1905-1994), married 1929 George Theodore Hornbeck (1904-1983)

*  Russell Jacob Seaver (1907-1977), married 1929 Helen Marie Miller (1913-1987).

*  Ernest Ransom Seaver (1910-2007), married 1934 Oletta Irene Baughman (1915-2000).

*  Alice Caroline Seaver (1920-2017), married 1940 James Allen Rector (1916-2004).

*  Lois Mae Seaver (1928-????), married 1948 Clyde Woodrow Hughes (1923-2003).

Lettie's husband, Charles Earnest Seaver is not related to me.  He is descended from Christian and Lydia (Kissinger) Seaver of Pennsylvania.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a lot of descendants. I am glad that I can honor Lettie May (Youngker) Seaver today.  

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
