Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 10 December 2023

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday, and reported on the newsletter, research group and DNA Interest Group.  Wrote, edited and published the 10-page CVGS Newsletter for December on Saturday.

2)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for my granduncle Harry Clifton Seaver (1885-1951) of Leominster, Massachusetts for my new 52 Relatives theme series.

3)  Transcribed the 1891 will of James W. Seaver (1812-1892) of Byron, New York for the Amanuensis Monday theme.

4)  Added about 10 of my 52 Ancestors posts (just Notes and Sources) to FamilySearch Family Tree "Life Story" profiles for my father's ancestors back to my 5th great-grandparents.  Updated several of the existing profiles.  There are more to do to get them all into the FSFT.

5)  Used the WikiTree version of the Ancestry DNA Match Table Maker spreadsheet to capture my 583 "Common Ancestor" entries.  I tried to capture the 1,905 "Close Matches" but it only shows 110 Notes for some reason.

6)  AncestryDNA now has 44,475 DNA matches (up 34 from 3 December) for me today, with 6 new ThruLines (3 correct, 3 incorrect IMHO).  I added Notes to 6 matches.  MyHeritageDNA now has 11,970 DNA matches (up 4 from 3 December) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

7)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic 9 profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 50,094 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 35).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 71,703 persons in my RootsMagic family tree (up 40), and 146,389 source citations (up 8).  Resolved 220 Ancestry Hints. TreeShared no new and updated profiles with my Ancestry tree.  My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 14,188 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.

9) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Using the AncestryDNA Match Table Maker Spreadsheet on WikiTree with over 275 views.  Genea-Musings had about 47,900 page views last week.

10)  Real life:  This is week 196 since COVID restrictions started.   I stayed home except for visiting Linda almost every day at the skilled nursing/memory care facility. Went shopping on Monday and Friday.  Linda and I went to the orthopedist on Friday for her right humerus fracture.  The doctor said no surgery but keep it immobile to let it heal.  Went to my cardiologist on Friday and he said I was doing well.  Did my Christmas shopping online.  Walked almost every day on the block and talked to several neighbors.  I'm still reading the James Patterson book The Shadow.   My SDSU basketball Aztecs won one of two games, and the Chargers lost on Sunday to the Broncos 24-7 (so now 5-8).  Watched some NFL football on Sunday.
