Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 1 to 7 June 2025

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for most daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  NGS 2025 Louisville: Pre-Conference; NGS 2025 Louisville: Day 1NGS 2025 Louisville: Day 2 by J. Paul Hawthorne on GeneaSpy.

Well, the 2025 summary said Genea-Mudsings was on it, but that was a misteak. They copied the lists from 2024 and forgot to take Genea-Musings off. I pointed out in an email that the list did not have a three-line blurb about Genea-Musings, and received a nice email from the editor saying, "Well, we made a misteak. You didn't make the 2025 list." I sent a nice letter back asking why GM wasn't selected, and what are the criteria for that category? I haven't head back after 3 days. They didn't pick any from about 30 blogs IMHO that are better than the ones picked.
