4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

The Goble Genealogy web page (http://goblegenealogy.com/index.htm) provides basic data for many Goble families, including the family of Thomas Goble (1656-1724)[1]

Sarah Shepard was born in about 1658 (she was age 88 at her death in 1746), probably in Concord, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Sarah (Goble) Shepard of Concord.  There is no birth record for Sarah in the Concord town records or in the records of other nearby towns.

Sarah married Thomas Goble on 4 January 1686/7 in Concord, Massachusetts[2].  He was the son of Thomas and Ruth (--?--) Goble who resided in Concord after their marriage.  Sarah Shepard was Thomas Goble's first cousin.  The Concord vital record book has this marriage record:
"Thomas Goble and Sarah Shepard, both of Concord, Marryed January y^e 4th 1686.    by me Edward Bulkely Minister of Concord."
Thomas and Sarah (Shepard) Goble had six children, all born and recorded in Concord, except for Thomas who died in 1714.  They were:

*  Sarah Goble (1692-1728) married 1715 William Wood (1687-1733).
*  Mary Goble (1694-1734) married 1715 John Fletcher (1692-????).
*  Stephen Goble (1694-????).
*  John Goble (1696-????).
*  Abigail Goble (1697-1723), married 1722 Joseph Harris (1693-????).
*  Thomas Goble (????-1714).

Sarah's father, John Shepard, died in 1699 in Concord and there is no probate record for him.  Her mother, Sarah (Goble) Shepard, died in 1717 in Concord leaving no probate record.

Thomas Goble died on 24 March 1724 in Concord.

Sarah (Shepard) Goble married, secondly, Nathaniel Whitney (1647-1733) on 2 November 1724 in Concord, Massachusetts[5,6], and they resided in Weston, Massachusetts.  They had no children of their own. Nathaniel died on 7 January 1732/3 in Weston.

Thomas Goble died intestate, since his nuncupative will was not accepted by the probate court.  His estate was administered, with the papers collected in Middlesex County Probate Records, Packet 9,238[3].  The records show that, at the start of proceedings that the widow was allowed 38 pounds and 15 shillings.  In 1727, Sarah, now the wife of Nathaniel Whitney, received her full one third part of the estate for the rest of her life.  In 1728, the estate of Thomas Goble was divided between the heirs.  Widow Sarah Goble received received two and a half acres and 15 rods of pasture land in Goble's Plain, two acres of meadow land in Brod meadow, and 11 acres of woodland in Goble's Plain, for a total value of 55 pounds 13 shillings and 4 pence.

The Probate Court closed the estate file of Thomas Goble on 14 February 1731/2.

Sarah (Shepard) (Goble) Whitney died on 7 May 1746 in Weston, Massachusetts[4].  The death record in the Weston town records book says:
"M^rs. Sarah Whitney Widow of M^r. Nath^ll Whitney, Deceas^d in Weston May 7, AD 1746.  Aged about eighty eight years."
There is no burial record for her.  There is no probate record for her in the Middlesex County Probate Records.
