Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 22 February 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 26 attendees (including 8 guests).   In the first hour, I discussed RootsTech 2021, MyHeritageDNA improvements, my DNA Painter Chromosome Map, the new Nathan Goodwin book, and my process for finding Common Ancestors of DNA Matches.

2)  On Saturday, attended the San Diego Colony of Mayflower Society meeting, the last half of the San Diego Genealogical Society British Group meeting, and the Whittier Area Genealogical Society meeting with Lisa Lisson, all on Zoom.

3)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar and we discussed RootsTech Connect 2021 keynotes, classes, Relatives at RootsTech, the Playlist, and the FamilySearch video (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiKF0RZL_qA), the MyHeritageDNA upgrade, and the Extreme Genes podcast.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandmother #581 Thankfull (Wheeler) Prescott (1682-1716) of Concord and Groton, Mass. for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

6)  Attended the FamilySearch RootsTech Ambassadors briefing on Zoom on Tuesday.  Worked in the "Relatives at RootsTech" app in preparation for RootsTech.  Added about 60 Friends to my list and checked the common ancestors.

7)  AncestryDNA added 138 new DNA matches this past week, with two new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 11 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 19 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added 3 ThruLines to RootsMagic.  Added three MyHeritageDNA lines to RootsMagic.

8)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 40,650 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 190).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 61,818 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 219), and 133,489 source citations (up 330).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 407 profiles, and I resolved 1,243 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 148,017 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10)  Wrote 21 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most viewed post last week was "Relatives at RootsTech" App at RootsTech Connect 2021 Now Online with over 444 views.

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 48 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.   I  went to the dentist on Tuesday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, and a little yard work.
