Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 12 September 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom.  I reported on the Research Group, DNA Interest Group, Newsletter, and working with the CVGS website to find historic records.

2)  Watched the San Diego Genealogical Society Fall Seminar on Saturday on Zoom.  Michael Lacopo presented four talks on important and underused record types.

3)  Added one more Events to the CVGS website on Wild Apricot.  Downloaded more of the file folders on Gary's OneDrive to the CVGS Google Drive account.  Renamed some files to be more "orderly" and consistent.

4)  Finished the table of Worcester County Land Records trying to find information about the three or four Samuel Buck persons in Sutton from 1732 to 1800.  Wrote it up in Rabbit Holes With Randy - Finding Land Records for Samuel Buck of Sutton, Massachusetts.

5)  Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandfather  #716 Jacob Soule (1687-1748) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

6) Transcribed a probate record document - 1854 Adoption Petition and Decree for Andrew P. Seaver in Middlesex County, Massachusetts - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

7) AncestryDNA now has 40,875 DNA matches (up 42 from 5 September) for me today, with no new ThruLines.  MyHeritageDNA now has 10,703 DNA matches (up 23 from 5 September) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added notes to 0 AncestryDNA matches.

8)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,414 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 62).

9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,014persons in my RootsMagic file (up 61 from 5 September), and 145,360  source citations (up 6). I TreeShared no new or modified profiles with my new Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 441  Ancestry Hints. My new Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,197 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,305 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.  I resolved about 30 MyHeritage Record Maches, adding information and sources to my RootsMagic tree.

10) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Genealogy News Bytes - 31 August to 6 September 2022 with over 174 views.

11)  Real life:  This is week 131 since COVID restrictions.  My recovery from the 30 May heart bypass surgery is (I hope)  complete.  I am still really tired every day, take at least two naps each day, and try to walk for 30 minutes every day on the block. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her five times last week.   I went shopping on Monday and Friday.   I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 77-64 on the season (3-3 last week).
