Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 3 to 9 September 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Ancestry’s New Fan View Feature for Your Family Tree! by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes in Your Family.

*  Why Your Ancestor’s Occupation Matters To Your Genealogy Research by Lisa Lisson on Are You My Cousin?

Understanding AncestryDNA’s New Subscription Plan by Mark Thompson on Making Family History.

*  Ancestry’s ThruLines Are a Hot Mess Right Now – But Here Are Some Great Alternatives by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

What Is Genealogy? How To Get Started With Family History Research by Jessica Taylor on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

*  A circus-full of maps by John Grenham on John Grenham -- Irish Roots.

*  Using JSTOR for Genealogy by Brenda Leyndyke on Journeys to the Past.

*  When Things Don’t Turn Out As One Hopes: Abraham Palmer FAN Club Clues by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  When Parts of the Story are Missing by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*  In Beta at Ancestry: Top Hints Feature by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 8th Sept 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - September 9, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thank you for including my post about one of my husband's most frustrating ancestors of all time! Abraham absolutely doesn't want to be found.
