Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Zoom and reported on the Research Group, DNA Interest Group and Newsletter. Wrote, edited and published via email the CVGS "Family History Gazette" Newsletter for March 2022.
3) Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society NA Interest Group meeting led by Colin Whitney on Saturday, where Colin presented "Tracing Your DNA Matches."
4) Attended three days of RootsTech 2022 classes, summarized in Randy at RootsTech 2022 - Day 1 Virtual Activities, Randy at RootsTech 2022 - Day 2 Virtual Activities, and Randy at RootsTech 2022 - Day 3 Virtual Activities.
5) Served as a panelist on today's Mondays With Myrt webinar, where we discussed the Ukraine people and archives, RootsTech 2022 favorite sessions, cemetery stone cleaning, the MyHeritage LiveStory and Ancestry Stories features, Judy Russell's blog post about DNA and law enforcement, and the 1950 U.S. Census.
6) Made one MyHeritage LiveStory shared in First Look at the MyHeritage LiveStory Feature and one AncestryStories on the mobile app shared in #MyAncestryStory Debuts on the Ancestry Mobile app.
7) Published a genealogy biography of #305 Dinah (Rice) Brigham (1693-1726) of Marlborough, Massachusetts for the 52 Ancestors theme.
8) Transcribed a deed record in 1730 Deed of Land in Westborough, Massachusetts by Seth, Josiah and Thankfull Rice to Nathan Brigham for Amanuensis Monday.
9) AncestryDNA now has 39,464 DNA matches (up 138) this past week, with one new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,124 DNA matches (up 29), with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 4 AncestryDNA matches and added one ThruLines to RootsMagic.
10) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,647 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 305).
11) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,150 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 173 from last week), and 144,357 source citations (up 67). I TreeShared 114 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 682 Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 24,481 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.
12) Wrote 27 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which six were a press release. The most viewed post last week was #MyAncestryStory Debuts on the Ancestry Mobile app with over 368 views.
13) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 103 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time. I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. I watched the Ukraine news occasionally. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and no yard work.
