Tuesday's Tip - Find California Records on FamilySearch.org

Today's Tuesday's Tip is to:  Find California Birth, Marriage and Voter Registration Records in the FamilySearch Historical Record Collections.

FamilySearch has recently added these California statewide records to their collection in the last month:

1)  California Death Index, 1905-1939: this is an alphabetical index list that provides name, death date, age at death, and death county in two separate indexes: 1905 to 1929 and 1930-1939.  This is a browse-only database.

2)  California Marriage Index, 1960-1985: this index provides names and ages of the bride and groom, and marriage date and county.  This index database can be searched.

3)  California, County Marriages, 1850-1952:  this index provides names, ages and parents names (if provided), plus marriage date and place.    This index database can be searched.

4)  California Great Registers, 1866-1910:   this index provides names, age, birth place and address for registered voters in many California counties.    This index database can be searched.  I think this database is not yet complete.

These are very welcome additions to the basket of freely available California records.  There are many other databases on FamilySearch.org for all states and many countries.  Go to https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list and put your state or country of interest into the "Collection name" search field.
