Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- How Did Your Ancestors Meet Their Spouses?

  Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.

1)  How did your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and other greats meet each other?  Do you know any details?

2) Tell us about your ancestors meeting each other in a comment on this post, or in a Facebook post.  Please leave a link on this post if you write your own post.

Here's mine:

*  I wrote about how my parents met in Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - How Did Your Parents Meet?

*  I think that my paternal grandparents (Frederick Walton Seaver (1876-1942) and Alma Bessie Richmond (1882-1962)) met at a social event in Leominster, Massachusetts in about 1899.  Bessie played the organ and piano, and Fred may have met her at a church function or some sort of music recital.

*  I think that my maternal grandparents, Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976) and Emily Kemp Auble (1899-1977) met at a social event in San Diego, perhaps in 1916 or 1917 (they married in 1918).  I have a newspaper article that lists them both at a social event for young people.  Lyle worked at Marston's department store in downtown San Diego and Emily may have met him shopping while she was in High School, or perhaps she worked at Marston's after her father died in March 1916.

*  I know how my great-grandparents Henry Austin Carringer (1853-1946) and Abbey Ardelle "Della" Smith (1862-1944) me.  Austin had land adjacent to Della's father's land in Cheyenne County, Kansas in the early 1880s, and they both acted in melodrama theater plays in Wano, Kansas.

*  I think that my great-grandparents Charles Auble (1849-1916) and Georgianna Kemp (1968-1952) met in Chicago, Illinois in about 1895-1897, perhaps at a social function.  They married in 1898 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

*  I think that my great-grandparents Frank Walton Seaver (1852-1922) and Hattie Hildreth (1857-1920) met in the early 1870s when they were neighbors (houses across the street from each other) in Leominster, Massachusetts.

*  I think that my great-grandparents Thomas Richmond (1848-1917) and Julia E. White (1848-1913) met in Killingly, Connecticut in about 1866-1867 (they  married in 1868) in an Episcopal Church in Killingly.

=======================================================

My friend and SDGS colleague, Marshall, has come up with a way to determine which collections are ADDED, DELETED or UPDATED, and to alphabetize the entries in each category. Thanks to Marshall for helping me out here!

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to   https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link). It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.

I have posted over 500 genealogical sketches of  my ancestors back through the 7th great-grandparents - see the list in 52 Ancestors Biographies.

I started a new weekly series called "52 Relatives" to document the lives of siblings of my ancestors with relatively short sketches with events and source citations.  They deserve a sketch also - they were integral parts of the lives of my ancestral families.  I will post the sketches on my Ancestry Member Tree and in the FamilySearch Family Tree.
