It's Saturday Night -
time for more Genealogy Fun!
Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible music here) is to:
1) What was your mother's father's full name?
2) What is your mother's father's matrilineal line? That is, his mother's mother's mother's ... back to the most distant female ancestor in that line. Provide her ahnentafel number (relative to you), and her birth and death years and places.
3) Tell us about it in your own blog post, or in a Comment on this post, or in a Facebook post. Please put a link to your post in Comments here.
Here's mine:
1) My maternal grandfather was #6 Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976).
2) Lyle's mother was #13 Abbey Ardell "Della" Smith (1862-1944), who married Henry Austin Carringer (1853-1946). Abbey was born in Wisconsin, married in Kansas, and died in California at age 82.
* Abbey's mother was #27 Abigail A. Vaux (1844-1931) who married Devier J. Smith (1839-1894). Abigail was born in New York, married in Wisconsin, and died in California at age 87.
* Abigail's mother was #55 Mary Ann Underhill (1815-1882) who married Samuel Vaux (1816-1880). Mary Ann was born in New York, married in New York, and died in Kansas at age 67.
* Mary Ann's mother was #111 Mary "Polly" Metcalf (1780-1855) who married Amos Underhill (1772-1865). Mary was born in New Hampshire, married in New Hampshire, and died in New York at age 75.
* Mary's mother was #223 Jerusha --?-- (ca 1750-1817) who married Burgess Metcalf (1741-1816). Jerusha was born in ???? (perhaps New Hampshire?), married in New Hampshire, and died in New Hampshire at age about 67.
I note that every one of them besides Jerusha moved west during their lifetime! All of those listed were, I am sure, hardy, hard working, and competent women and mothers.
Jerusha --?-- is still one of my elusive ancestors. Some trees say that she was a Chandler, but I have no evidence that this is the case.
