Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):
1) Does anyone recall the Academy of Genealogy and Family History (AGFH) awards from back in the 2008-2012 time frame, hosted by Jasia on Creative gene? Genea-bloggers would nominate blog entries in different categories, and Jasia would collect all of them with links to each blogger's post. The bloggers selected their own posts for nominations.
3) Put it in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a Facebook post. Please leave a link in a comment to this post.
This photograph is of me (at age 1) with my great-grandfather, Henry Austin Carringer (age 91 at the time) in October 1944 at my first birthday party. This is probably at my grandparents home at 2130 Fern Street in San Diego. This is the only time I have seen Austin Carringer with a smile on his face. In all of the photographs I have of him, he does not smile. I love this photograph, and I'm so glad that I could brighten his life a bit with my baby antics. My great-grandmother, Della (Smith) Carringer died in January 1944, so I don't have a color photo or home movie of her with me.
I used a screen capture to get this image from a paused 8 mm. home movie that my grandfather took in 1944, then cropped it. The home movie is a lot clearer but it is difficult to pause it on just the best frame.
