The source citation for this land record is:

 "Massachusetts, Land Records, 1620-1986," digital images, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org : accessed 27 January 2022), Worcester County > Deeds, 1763-1765, Vol. 51-52, Volume ,51 pages 471-472 (images 254-255 of 610), Deed of Seth Rice, Josiah rice and Thankfull Rice to Nathan Brigham, executed 17 March 1729/30, recorded 24 October 1765;  citing original records in County Courthouses, and on FHL Microfilms.

Some background:  Nathan Brigham (1693-1784), married (1) Dinah Rice (1693-1725) in 1717, and they had five children, all born in Marlborough; married (2) Hepsibah Ward (1708-1748) in 1729, and they had eight children, all born in Southborough.  Seth Rice and Thankfull Rice (wife of Josiah Rice) were siblings of Nathan Brigham's first wife.  This portion of Cedar Swamp was first granted to Samuel rice (grandfather of Dinah Rice) and then to Edmund Rice (father of Dinah Rice).  When this deed was executed in 1729, the towns of Southborough, Westborough and Upton were in Middlesex County.  In 1732, Worcester County was formed from Middlesex County.  Therefore this deed was recorded in Worcester County in 1765.

Nathan Brigham (1693-1784) and his first wife, Dinah Rice (1693-1725) are my 6th great-grandparents through their son Moses Brigham (1722-1769), who married Mehitable Grout (1725-1795) in 1749.

*  Child 5:                Elizabeth Brigham 1725- ????

4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Dinah Rice was born 15 October 1693 in Marlborough, Massachusetts Bay, the first child of Edmund and Ruth (Parker) Rice of Marlborough[1-2,4].

She married Nathan Brigham (1693-1784) at age 24 on 24 December 1717 in Marlborough[2-4].  Nathan was the son of Nathan and Elizabeth (Maynard) Brigham of Marlborough.  They had five children, all born and recorded in Marlborough town records:

*  Dinah Brigham (1719-1784), married 1743 Jonsthan Witt (1718-????)
*  Eunice Brigham (1721-1792), married 1742 to Hezekiah Newton (1719-1786).
*  Moses Brigham (1723-1769), married 1749 to Mehitable Grout (1725-1795).
*  Perses Brigham (1725-1740).
*  Elizabeth Brigham (1725-????), married 1749 Jedidiah Fay (1726-1799).

Dinah's father, Edmund Rice, wrote his will on 10 August 1726, and it was proved in Middlesex County Probate Court on 12 September 1726 in Case File 18697[5]. The will mentioned wife Hannah, sons Seth ("the eldest now with me"), Eleazer; and daughters Dinah Brigham, Huldah Wheelock, Thankful Rice, Ruth Rice, and Anna Rice.

There is no death record for Dinah Brigham in the Marlborough town records. Her last child, Elizabeth Brigham, was born 18 December 1725.  Her father named her in his will dated 10 August 1726.  Nathan Brigham married, secondly, in about 1729 to Hepsibah Ward.  It is likely that Dinah (Rice) Brigham died between late 1726 and 1729.

Some background:  Nathan Brigham (1693-1784), married (1) Dinah Rice (1693-1725) in 1717, and they had five children, all born in Marlborough; married (2) Hepsibah Ward (1708-1748) in 1729, and they had eight children, all born in Southborough, including Nathan Brigham Jr. (1730-1806); Hepzebah Brigham (1732-1815), married John Taplin; Edmund Brigham (1733-1806);  One of Dinah (Rice) Brigham's sisters was Ruth Rice (1712-1786), daughters of Edmund and Ruth (Parker) Rice,  who married Elisha Ward (1712-1756) in 1738.  Hepsibah (Ward) Brigham (1708-1748), Hezekiah Ward (1703-1777), Elisha Ward (1712-1756), Ephraim Ward (1716-????), Abigail (Ward) Newton (1720-1795) and Charles Ward (1722-1745) were all children of William and Jane (Cleveland) Ward.  The William Ward (1743-1819) in the deed is the son of Charles Ward, who died in 1745.  So all of the named grantors were relatives in one way or another to Ruth (Rice) Ward and descendants of Edmund and Ruth (Parker) Rice and William and Jane (Cleveland) Ward.

This deed is very complicated.  Elisha Ward died in 1756 to set the need for this deed in motion.  It effectively gives Ruth (Rice) Ward a share of her husband's inheritance, plus provides for William Ward, nephew of Elisha and Ruth Ward, once he reaches age 21.  It is likely that William Ward, son of Charles Ward, was living with Elisha and Ruth Ward, his aunt and uncle.

Nathan Brigham (1693-1784) and his first wife, Dinah Rice (1693-1725) are my 6th great-grandparents through their son Moses Brigham (1722-1769), who married Mehitable Grout (1725-1795) in 1749.

Some background:  Nathan Brigham (1693-1784), married (1) Dinah Rice (1693-1725) in 1717, and they had five children, all born in Marlborough; (2) Hepsibah Ward (1708-1748) in 1729, and they had eight children, all born in Southborough; (3) Martha (--?--) Gleason (1700-????) in 1751, and they had no children.

Solomon Rice (1713-1802), son of Charles and Rebecca (Wheeler) Rice, married Anna Rice (1715-1802) in 1741.  Anna was the daughter of Edmund and Ruth (Parker) Rice of Marlborough, and granddaughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (King) Rice, and sister of Nathan Brigham's first wife, Dinah Rice.

In this deed, Nathan Brigham buys a part of Cedar Swamp in Westborough that Solomon Rice received from Anna's father Edmund Rice for 7 pounds in bills of credit old tenor.  Apparently, Solomon and Ann Rice had moved to Upton, a town just south of Westborough.

Nathan Brigham (1693-1784) and his first wife, Dinah Rice (1693-1725) are my 6th great-grandparents through their son Moses Brigham (1722-1769), who married Mehitable Grout (1725-1795) in 1749.
