Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Lifespans of Your 2nd Great Grandparents

It's Saturday Night -
time for more Genealogy Fun!

Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to:

1)  We each have 16 great-great grandparents.  How did their birth and death years vary?  How long were their lifespans?

2)  For this week, please list your 16 great-great grandparents, their birth year, their death year, and their lifespan in years.  You can do it in plain text, in a table or spreadsheet, or in a graph of some sort.

3)  Share your information about your 16 great-great grandparents with us in a blog post of your own, in a comment to this blog post, or on Facebook or Google+.  If you write your own blog post, please leave a link as a comment to this post.

Here's mine:

Making Progress on My Auble Cousins - Post 3: Identifying Elizabeth Auble's Heirs

Previous posts in this series include:

*  Making Progress on My Auble Cousins - Post 1: Finding Elizabeth's Will (25 April 2016).
*  Making Progress on My Auble Cousins - Post 2: Transcription of Elizabeth Auble's Will (28 April 2016)

In this blog post, I am going to try to identify all of the heirs of Elizabeth Auble from her will and two codicils, including a summary of what I knew about each of them before I started researching them.

1)  Before I found this will, I knew that Elizabeth Auble was the daughter of John and Anna (Row) Auble from the 1894 obituary of my 2nd great-grandfather David Auble (1817-1894);  his obituary identified Elizabeth, David, Hampton and Robert Auble as siblings.  Another sibling, William Auble, was identified as a brother of David Auble in an 1844 newspaper article.

2)  In her will, Elizabeth Auble (1814-1899) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania identified these persons to receive bequests, in the order of their mention in the 1893 will and 1893 and 1896 codicils:

*  Hampton Auble -- her brother, a trust that enabled him to occupy and use Elizabeth's house for the rest of his life, and the income on $1,000 for his use.  I knew that Hampton Auble was her brother.from the David Auble obituary.

*  Miami Geary -- daughter of her brother Hampton Auble, married to Edward Geary.  She was to benefit from the same trust - to occupy and use Elizabeth's house for the rest of her life, and the income from Hampton's $1,000 for her use.  I knew the name of this daughter of Hampton Auble as Maria Auble from a census record.

*  Florence Geary -- daughter of Miami Geary.  She was to benefit from the same trust - to occupy and use Elizabeth's house for the rest of her life also.  When she died, the house was to be sold and the trust proceeds to go to the children of Florence, if any.  I did not know of Florence before I read Elizabeth's will.

*  Lillie T. Auble -- daughter of William H. Auble.  Lillie was to receive Elizabeth's piano and cover.  I did not know of Lillie before I read Elizabeth's will.

*  David Auble -- brother to Elizabeth Auble.  He was bequeathed $2,000 in the will, but after he died, she changed the bequest to $1,000 for David's widow, Sarah Auble.  I knew about David Auble and his family before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Robert Auble -- brother to Elizabeth Auble.  He was bequeathed $2,000 in Elizabeth's will.  I knew about Robert Auble and his family before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  William H. Auble -- nephew to Elizabeth, son of her deceased brother William Auble.  William H. Auble was bequeathed $1,000.  I did not know of William H. Auble before I read Elizabeth's will.  I knew of brother William Auble before reading Elizabeth's will, but did not know of any family.

*  Euphemia Foster -- niece to Elizabeth, daughter of Elizabeth's sister, Sophia.  Euphemia was bequeathed $500.  I did not know of Euphemia Foster before I read Elizabeth's will, other than being in the 1850 U.S. census household with Anna (Row) Auble.

*  Anna Bunting -- niece to Elizabeth, daughter of her brother David Auble.  Anna was bequeathed $500.  I knew of Anna (Auble) Buntin and her family before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Elizabeth Schunover -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated.  She was bequeathed $500.  I did not know of Elizabeth Schunover before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Elizabeth Auble -- niece to Elizabeth, daughter of her brother Robert Auble.  She was bequeathed $500.  I knew of Elizabeth Auble and her family before reading the will.

*  Anna Dickerson -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated, wife of Wesley Dickerson.  She was bequeathed $500.  I did not know of Anna Dickerson before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  David Schunover -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated.  He was bequeathed $300.  I did not know of David Schunover before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Elizabeth Mansfield -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated.  She was bequeathed $300.  I did not know of Elizabeth Mansfield before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  William Collingburg, grandson of Elizabeth Auble's brother, Nathan Auble.  He was bequeathed a trust of $500 and receive the principal and income from the trust when he turned 21.  I had no knowledge of Nathan Auble or any of his descendants before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Frank Delly, half brother of William Collingsburg.  He was bequeathed the trust given to William Collingsburg should William die.  I had no knowledge of Frank Delly before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Cora Struble -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated, wife of Edward Struble of Newton.  She was bequeathed $300.   I had no knowledge of Cora or Edward Struble before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Elizabeth Snover -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated, the granddaughter of ____ Rosenkrantz of Stillwater.   She was bequeathed $300.  I had no knowledge of Elizabeth Snover before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Gertrude McCracken - relationship to Elizabeth not stated, and the daughter of John McCracken of blairstown.  She was bequeathed the $300 bequeathed to Euphemia Foster who had subsequently died by 1896.  I had no knowledge of Gertrude or John McCracken before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Louie Dickerson - relationship to Elizabeth not stated, and the daughter of Wesley Dickerson.  She was bequeathed $300.  I had no knowledge of Louie Dickerson before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  Mary Auble - relationship to Elizabeth not stated, the wife of Theodore Auble of Blairstown.  She was bequeathed $300.  I knew about the family of Theodore Auble (son of Robert Auble, so nephew of Elizabeth Auble), before reading Elizabeth's will.

*  David Struble -- relationship to Elizabeth not stated, but probably related to Edward and Cora Struble.  She was bequeathed $300.  I had no knowledge of David Struble before reading Elizabeth's will.

To summarize, Elizabeth Auble's 1893 will identified her living siblings as Hampton, David, Robert, Nathan, William, and Sophia.  Of those, Nathan and Sophia are persons I was not aware of before reading the will.  Elizabeth's will identifies a number of nieces and nephews, and a wife of a nephew.  The will also bequeaths money to several people with no stated relationship to Elizabeth Auble - these may be Auble family relatives by birth or marriage, or Row (Elizabeth's mother) family relatives by birth or marriage, or they may be family friends.

3(  My plan now is to research each of the known Auble lines to the present time if possible, and especially for Sophia, Nathan and William.  Then I will research the persons with unstated relationships to Elizabeth to determine if they are Auble family members.

This may take some time, but it should be interesting and fun, at least for me!
