===========================================

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to  https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

My friend, Marshall, has come up with a way to determine which collections are ADDED, DELETED or UPDATED.  Thanks to Marshall for helping me out here!

Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link).  It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.

Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - Were You In a Youth Organization?

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment if you choose to play along (cue the Mission Impossible music, please!):

1)
Did you join a youth organization such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, Job's Daughters, for example?

2)  Tell us about it in a blog post of your own, in a comment on this blog, or in a Facebook post.

Thank you to Lisa Gorrell for suggesting this several months ago.

Here's mine:

I was never a member of Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts as a child or teenager.

However, I was a member of a church youth group at the Brooklyn Heights Presbyterian Church in San Diego (three blocks south of our house) for a year or two.  The church had a recreation room and a playground on the south end of their block, and I recall playing softball and basketball there.

For a year or two when I was 12-15 years old, my brother and I went with the church youth group to fish at Otay Lakes and in San Diego Bay off the Shelter Island pier on Point Loma, and on several ocean fishing day trips from San Diego Bay in the Pacific.  I got seasick on the ocean trips.  I think we went on several day trips to the snow on Mount Laguna in the winter time.

My daughters were members of Brownies and Girl Scouts in their pre-teen and early teen years and had wonderful experiences at camps and day trips.  Linda was a Brownie and girl scout leader.  I contributed cookie tasting activities.
