FREE BCG-sponsored Webinar on 21 December: "Uncovering Immigrant Origins Through Cluster Research" by Dana Ann Palmer

I received this information from Elyse Hill, the BCG News Release Coordinator:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTACT: Board for Certification of Genealogists®, PO Box 14291, Washington, DC 20044

EMAIL: office@BCGCertification.org

FREE BCG-SPONSORED WEBINAR

“Uncovering Immigrant Origins Through Cluster Research”

by Dana Ann Palmer, CG®, CGL(SM)

Tuesday, December 21st, 8:00 p.m. EST

Descendants of an early Ohio immigrant family had no idea of its origin. Cluster research brought success, using United States records as well as foreign-language records. This webinar considers what to do when no records exist on your direct line, and the family has no helpful oral history or documentation. Tracing associates who traveled together or came from the same area can break down that brick wall.

BCG’s next free monthly webinar in conjunction with Legacy Family Tree Webinars is “Uncovering Immigrant Origins Through Cluster Research” by Dana Ann Palmer, CG®, CGL(SM). This webinar airs Tuesday, December 21st, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. eastern standard time (EST).

Dana Palmer, CG®, CGL(SM) has been a genealogy instructor at Sinclair Community College since 2010. She has spoken at national, state, and local genealogy events and conferences including RootsTech (2020); NGS (2020, 2018); FGS (2020, 2013); and frequently at OGS. She specializes in lineage society applications, publishing family books, Midwestern research specifically Ohio, but she also has experience in Germany, Denmark, and the U.K. She has received numerous awards for her books and volunteer efforts. She belongs to several lineage societies including DUP, DAR, USD 1812, and Colonial Dames (pending). She loves problem solving and tracking down those elusive ancestors.

When you register before December 21st on our partner Legacy Family Tree Webinars website (http://legacy.familytreewebinars.com/?aid=6094) you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. Anyone with schedule conflicts may access the webinar at no charge for one week after the broadcast on the Legacy Family Tree Webinars website.

President LaBrenda Garrett-Nelson, JD, LLM, CG®, CGL℠, FASG says, “Every month the Board for Certification of Genealogists offers a new webinar as part of an ongoing series that supports our mission to provide education for family historians. These webinars are presented by certified associates and offer a quality genealogical educational experience. The board promotes excellence in research and working to standards in an ethical manner.”

BCG OFFERS FREE WEBINAR Tuesday, 17 April 2018, 8:00 p.m. Eastern

“Better Together: Making Your Case with Documents and DNA” by Patti Lee Hobbs, CG

The genealogical proof standard requires reasonably exhaustive research in solving ancestral-identity problems. DNA evidence is now often part of that research. Even the best DNA evidence must be combined with some traditional research. This webinar will show different ways that genealogical problems have been solved by integrating DNA evidence with the paper trail.

The Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG) will present “Better Together: Making Your Case with Documents and DNA” by Patti Lee Hobbs, CG free to the public at 8:00 p.m. EDT, 17 April 2018.

Patti Lee Hobbs, Certified Genealogist®, with a BA in biology, works as a professional genealogist and occasionally at the Springfield-Greene County Library in Springfield, Missouri. Patti instructs on the use and analysis of DNA testing and how it complements traditional research in original records. Patti has presented numerous workshops on DNA locally and regionally as well as at the week-long “Practical Genetic Genealogy” course at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. Patti serves as a Board for Certification of Genealogists trustee, a BCG Education Fund trustee, the chair of the Ozarks Genealogical Society Education Committee. She is the course coordinator for IGHR’s “Genetics for Genealogists: Beginning DNA.”

President Rick Sayre, CG, CGL, FUGA says, “Every month the Board for Certification of Genealogists offers a new webinar as part of an ongoing series that supports our mission to provide education for family historians. These webinars are presented by certified associates and offer a quality genealogical educational experience.
