Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Make a Surname Christmas Tree

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):

Back in 2013, Leslie Ann had a post on her Ancestors Live Here blog  titled Wordless Wednesday -- Surname Christmas Tree which I thought was a great idea for an SNGF challenge on a Surname Saturday.  We did it in 2018 last - see here!  Are you game?

1)  Read Leslie Ann's post, and figure out how you could make something similar to hers, or to mine below, or even something different.

2)  Make your Surname Christmas Tree using your ancestral surnames - there's no limit on the number of surnames - and decorate your tree as you wish.

3)  Show us your Surname Christmas Tree and tell us how you made it in a blog post of your own, in a Facebook post.  Please leave a comment here so we can all see your creation.

Here's mine:

That's my Angel Linda on the top of the tree!

Here's how I did it:

*  I used my word processor to add the surnames in an approximate tree shape.
*  I colored the surnames green for the tree and brown for the trunk.
*  I went to Google Images and looked for tree ornaments to decorate my tree, saved them, and inserted them into the word processing page.
*  I saved the word processing page as a PDF file.
*  I opened the PDF file, reduced the magnification, and used the Windows Snipping Tool to create a JPG image.
*  I added the JPG image as above.

It did take me over an hour to create...I have over 10 generations of ancestral surnames on the tree above.  I hope I didn't spell any names wrong!

I showed you mine, now please show me yours!

===========================================

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to  https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

My friend, Marshall, has come up with a program to determine which collections are ADDED, DELETED or UPDATED.  Thanks to Marshall for helping me out here!
Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link).  It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.

Surname Saturday -- LNU (Elizabeth, married John Smith, England to colonial Massachusetts)

It's Surname Saturday, and I'm "counting down" my Ancestral Name List each week.

I am working in the 9th great-grandmothers by Ahnentafel number, and I am up to Ancestor #2511 who is Elizabeth LNU (1625-????). [Note: the more recent ancestral families have been covered in earlier posts.]

My ancestral line back through one generation in this LNU family line is:

1. Randall J. Seaver

2. Frederick Walton Seaver (1911-1983)
3. Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002)

4. Frederick Walton Seaver (1876-1942)
5. Alma Bessie Richmond (1882-1962)

8. Frank Walton Seaver (1852-1922)
9. Hattie Louise Hildreth (1857-1920)

18.  Edward Hildreth (1831-1899)
19.  Sophia Newton (1834-1923)

38.  Thomas J. Newton (1800-????)
39.  Sophia Buck (1797-1882)

78.  Isaac Buck (1757-1846)

79.  Martha Phillips (1757-1830)

156.  Isaac Buck (1732-????)
157.  Mary Richards (1733-????).

312.  Isaac Buck (1706-1780)
313.  Ruth Graves (1711-????)

626. Thomas Graves (1686-1756

627.  Ruth Collins (1685-1715)

1254.  Joseph Collins (1643-1724)
1255.  Mariah Smith (1664-1724)

2510.  John Smith, born before 21 January 1622 in Hadleigh, Suffolk, England; died 16 October 1672 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, United States.  He was the son of 5020. John Smyth and 5021. Alice Barnes.  He married about 1653 in Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, United States.
2511.  Elizabeth LNU, born about 1625 in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England; died in probably Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, United States.

Children of John Smith and Elizabeth are:
*  John Smith (1654-1737), married 1679 Elizabeth Smith (1653-1736).
*  Elizabeth Smith (1656-1688), married 1682 William Chapman (1651-1732).
*  William Smith (1659-1676).
*  Thomas Smith (1661-1726), married (1) 1685 Joanna Barber (1667-1688); (2) 1689 Mary Younglove (1665-1743).
Mariah Smith (1664-1734), married 1684 Joseph Collins (1643-1724).
*  Ruth Smith (1666-1667).
*  Prudence Smith (1671-????).
*  Mary Smith (1671-????).

There is no authoritative source that provides Elizabeth's maiden name.  The FamilySearch Family Tree profile says her maiden name was Cooley, but the notes say that is not conclusive.  The Geni.com profile for John Smith says that Elizabeth was a Cooley.

One source for the John Smith family line is:

*  Linton E. Love,  Our Smith Families, website (http://www.smith-genealogy.com/smith-genealogy-generation-04.htm), now unavailable.  There are two published books available by the author, but I have not accessed them.

I have done no original research on this Smith line.
