It's Surname Saturday, and I'm "counting down" my Ancestral Name List each week.
I am in the 8th great-grandmothers and I'm up to Ancestor #2033, who is CMarie MULFORD (1693-1731) [Note: the earlier great-grandmothers and 8th great-grandfathers have been covered in earlier posts].
My ancestral line back through one generations of this MULFORD family line is:
1. Randall J. Seaver (1943-????)
2. Frederick Walton Seaver (1911-1983)
3. Betty Virginia Carringer (1919-2002)
6. Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976)7. Emily Kemp Auble (1899-1977)
14. Charles Auble (1849-1916)15. Georgianna Kemp (1862-1952)
30. James Abraham Kemp (1831-1902)31. Mary Jane Sovereen (1840-1874)
62. Alexander Sovereen (1814-1907)63. Elizabeth Putman (1818-1895)
126. John Putman (1785-1863)127. Sarah Martin (1792-1860)
254. Mulford Martin (1763-????)
255. Betsey Rolfe (1766-????)
508. Thomas Martin (1737-1767)
509. Elizabeth Ayers (1745-1767)
1016. Mulford Martin (1713-1744)
1017. Zerviah Dunham (1716-1741)
2032. Peter Martin, born 19 August 1693 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States; died before 17 March 1755 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States. He was the son of
4064. Benjamin Martin and
4065. Margaret Ellstone. He married 1711 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.
2033. Marie Mulford, born 1693, perhaps in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States; died before 1731 in Piscataway, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.
Children of Peter Martin and Marie Mulford are:
* Rhoda Martin (1712-????), married 1729 Benjamin Hull (1708-1747).
*
Mulford Martin (1713-1744), married (1) 1733
Zerviah Dunham (1716-1741); (2) 1741 Rachel Ayers (1710-????).
* Zerviah Martin (1715-1755), married 1733 Vincent Runyon (1709-1750).
* Thomas Martin (1718-????), married 1762 Elizabeth Ayers (1720-????).
Who were the parents of Marie Mulford? The FamilySearch Family Tree and many ancestry Member Trees indicate that her parents are Thomas Mulford (1650-1732) and Mary (Gardiner) Conkling (1658-1743) of East Hampton, New York. However, the family sketch and the will of Thomas Mulford, found
on the "Long Island Families" website (http://www.longislandsurnames.com/getperson.php?personID=I00266&tree=Mulford), do not indicate that Marie is a daughter. Thomas Mulford wrote his will in 1726, so if Marie (Mulford) Martin was a daughter, she should have at least been mentioned.
So it's a mystery who the parents are of Marie (Mulford) Martin (1693-1731).
