It's Treasure Chest Thursday - an opportunity to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history research and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1683 death record for William Healy in the Cambridge, Massachusetts vital records book:

The William Healy death record:

The extracted information for this record:

[HEALY] William, Nov. 28, 1683, a. 70 y.

The source citation for the William Healy record is:

Thomas W. Baldwin (compiler), Vital Records of Cambridge, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1915), Deaths, page 597, William Healy death entry, 28 November 1683, age 70 years.

William Healey (or Healy, Hely, etc.) was born about 1613, perhaps in Cornwood, Devon, England, perhaps the son of Thomas and Anne (Popple) Healey.  William died 28 November in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  He married, as his 4th wife, Phebe Green (1628-1677) on 15 August 1661 in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  They had three children.

This estate file of William Healy (Hele, Haley, Helay, Healey) contains nine images of the original papers filed in the Rockingham County, New Hampshire probate court in Chester.  These are images of the original papers in the file, and are Original Source, Primary Information and Direct Evidence of.the probate event and children's names.

William Healy, weaver of Chester, wrote the will on 10 July 1767, and it was proved in Rockingham County Probate Court on 27 May 1772.  In his will, he names eight of his nine known children (son William born in about 1728 is not mentioned, and is likely deceased in 1767), including the married names of all six of his daughters.  He also names a granddaughter.

William Healy (1688-1772) was the son of Samuel Healy (1662-1732) and his first wife (of four) Hannah (Smith) Healy (1666-1693) of Hampton, New Hampshire.  William Healy married Mary Samborne (1690-1790) in 1716 in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire.  They had nine children between 1716 and 1734.

William and Mary (Samborne) Healy are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended from their daughter Joanna Healy (1718-1809) who married John Underhill (1721-1793) in 1741 in Chester, New Hampshire.

4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):
Joanna Healey was born 29 July 1718 in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, the daughter of William and Mary (Samborne) Healey[1-2,4].

The William Healey family was briefly treated in Benjamin Chase, History of Old Chester From 1719 to 1869 (Auburn, N.H. : the author, 1869)[2], in the William Healey family sketch.

The book,  Underhill Genealogy, Volume 4, by Josephine C. Frost, published in 1932 provided the information about the John and Joanna (Healey) Underhill family[1].

Joanna was married in Chester, Rockingham County, New Hampshire to John Underhill on 21 October 1741 by Rev. Flagg[1].  John Underhill (1721-1793) was the son of Sampson and Elizabeth (Ambrose) Underhill of Chester.  John and Joanna (Healey) Underhill had ten children, all born in Chester, New Hampshire[1]:

*  Betty Underhill (1742-1806), married Samuel Buswell (1741-1827) in 1764.
*  William Underhill (1744-1780), married Abigail Choate (1747-1810) in about 1767.
*  John Underhill (1745-1816), married Hannah Colby (1745-????) in about 1767.
*  Molly Underhill (1747-1835), married James Pierce (1743-1796) in 1765.
*  Moses Underhill (1749-1838), married Rachel Lufkin (1771-????) in about 1787.
*  David Underhill (1751-1827), married Jemima Blake (1758-1829) in 1792.
*  Samuel Underhill (1753-1828), married Sarah Underhill (1756-1829), in 1775.
*  Jeremiah Underhill (1755-1794), married Anna Heath (1755-1844) in 1775.
*  Sarah Underhill (1759-1838), married Moses Greenough (1740-1832) in 1789.
*  Joanna Underhill (1764-????), married Moses Preston (1764-????) in 1784.

In his will written in 1767 and proved in Rockingham County, New Hampshire on 27 May 1772, William "Haley" of Chester gave one full half of the 60 acre lot in Chester that was his original right in the Fourth Division, lot 36, to be equally divided between his six daughters[5].  "Joanna Underhill" is one of the six daughters listed.

John Underhill died on 31 July 1793 in Chester, having written his will on 15 September 1785, which was proved on 21 August 1793 in Rockingham County.  His wife Joanna is not mentioned in the will.  Perhaps her children took her in, or she was able to live on the land bequeathed by her father or on the sale of that land.

"Joanna Healey, wife of Capt. John Underhill," died in August 1809 in Chester, New Hampshire[3].  There is no burial  record for her.
