Best of the Genea-Blogs - 25 September to 1 October 2016

Hundreds of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  10 Things I Liked Enough to Share With You: Sept 26, 2016 by Elizabeth O'Neal on the Little Bytes of Life blog.  Thank you, Elizabeth!

*  Dick Eastman Is Wrong by John Grenham on the Irish Roots blog.  Well, maybe not.  Check out the link to Dick's slides too.

*  Facebook Genealogy by Dave Robison on the Old Bones Research of New England blog.  Dave explains how Facebook helps genealogy research.

*  Respect and Rights by Debbie Parker Wayne on Deb's Delvings in Genealogy blog.  Well said, Debbie.

*  10 Things I wished I Knew When I Started My Blog by Barbara Poole on the Life From the Roots blog.  Barbara has learned well.

*  Reaping What We Sow - Part II by Tony Proctor on the Parallax View blog.  Tony continues his article about genealogy methods, software and online resources.

*   8 Weeks to Better Rhode Island Genealogy Research – Week 8 – Everything Else by Diane Boumenot on the One Rhode Island Family blog.  Diane completes her survey of Rhode Island resources.

This was a difficult week for me with presentations to make and give, and the grandkids here this weekend.  I feel like I slacked off, but the great geneabloggers below didn't!

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday Fossicking September 30, 2016 by Crissouli on That Moment in Time blog.

Recommended Reads by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.

*  Friday Finds - Week 39 by Martin Roe on the Norwegian Genealogy and then some blog.

Friday Finds 30 Sept 2016 by Nichelle Barra on the Copper Leaf Genealogy blog.

Favorite Reads of the Week: 1 October 2016 by Nicole Dyer on the Family Locket blog.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- October 1, 2016 by Gail Dever on the Genealogy a la Carte blog.

*  Saturday Serendipity (September 24, 2016) by John D. Tew on the Filiopietism Prism blog.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1600 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Many, many thanks for this mention Randy. I wish I remembered when you first gave me a nod on your "Best of..," but it was probably 6-7 yrs. ago, you think? Again, thanks.
