This week's Thursday Treasure is the 1710 birth record of Sylvester Kenyon (1710-1800) in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the son of John and Elizabeth (Remington) Kenyon:

The Kenyon birth records on the page:

The transcription of these records:

KENYON, John, of John and Elizabeth, Nov. 21, 1706
KENYON, Thomas, Dec. 28, 1708
KENYON, Sylvester, April 7, 1710
KENYON, George, Sept. 28,1712
KENYON, Sarah, Sept. 21, 1715

The source citation for the birth of Sylvester Kenyon is:

"Rhode Island, Vital Records Extracts, 1636-1899," indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 5 October 2016), Volume 5, "Washington County Births, Marriages, Deaths," North Kingstown Births, page 84 (image 93 of 523), Sylvester Kenyon birth entry.

The first five of the 10 children of John and Elizabeth (Remington) Kenyon are recorded in the North Kingstown, Rhode Island town records.  Sylvester Kenyon is my 6th great-grandfather, who married Anna Barber (1717-after 1800) in 1740, and died in Voluntown, Connecticut.  I am descended through his son, John Kenyon (1742-1831), who married Anna Kenyon (about 1742 - before 1831).

NOTE:  Treasure Chest Thursday is one of the weekly genealogy blog themes on Geneabloggers.  I use it to display, transcribe and source records for my ancestral families.

Well, I wasn't expecting to see a Kenyon on your posts. Here you are with Sylvester Kenyon as your 6th great grandfather. He was a descendant of the immigrant John Kenyon, through his first son, John Kenyon, who married Elizabeth Remington. That makes us cousins. I'm a descendant of the Immigrant John Kenyon through his 7th son, Jonathan Kenyon.
