Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 22 March 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom, with 20 in attendance.  I reported on the RootsTech Conference, AncestryDNA match list changes, and demonstrated downloading my AncestryDNA match list to a spreadsheet.  In the second hour, several attendees reported on their DNA experiences.

2)  Attended the Whittier Area Genealogical Society (WAGS) program on Saturday featuring Dr. Penny Walters on "Mixing DNA With a Paper Trail."

3)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  Myrt's special guests today were Carol Petranek, Crista Cowan and Father Ivan from Serbia.  Fr. Ivan discussed his work and research with Serbian records and archives.

5)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandmother #585 Joanna (Cleveland) Keyes (1670-1758) of Woburn and Westford, Massachusetts  for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

7)  AncestryDNA added 126 new DNA matches this past week, with one new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 20 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 13 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added no new ThruLines to RootsMagic.

8)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 41,134 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 55).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 62,289 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 63), and 135,113 source citations (up 353).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 170 profiles, and I resolved 1,184 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 149,434 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which one was a press release.  The most viewed post last week was "Amanuensis Monday -- 1707 Will of Robert Herrington (1616-1707) of Watertown, Massachusetts" with over 404 views.

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 53 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  We watched my SDSU Azrecs lost their NCAA basketball game.  We celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary on Sunday by going out to dinner at In 'n' Out and driving around town.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, and a little yard work (like picking up leaves).
