Best of the Genea-Blogs - 18 to 24 August 2019

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

The Pending Reinvention of Ancestry.com by the writer of Counting Chromosomes.

*  Find Your Palatine Ancestors by Lorine McGinnis Schulze on Olive Tree Genealogy Blog.

Has It Happened To You?  Genealogy Serendipity by Gena Philibert-Ortega on Legacy News.

*  “Children of the Dust”: How Genetic Genealogy Helped an Amerasian Woman Locate Her G.I. Father by Jessica on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

*  Use ArchiveGrid To Find Old Documents & Family Records by Lisa Lisson on Are You My Cousin?

*  BYU Conference on Family History and Genealogy, 2019 by Jenny Hansen on My Favorite Ancestor.

Consistency Makes Your Family Tree More Professional by DiAnn Iamarino on Fortify Your Family Tree.

Gnashing of the Ancestry.com Teeth by Michael John Neill on Rootdig.

23andMe Connects Up With FamilySearch by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

What the FGS/NGS Merger Could Mean for Societies by Amy Johnson Crow on Amy Johnson Crow.

*  Sign? Or Symptom? This Week's "Wedding" Announcement by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Friday Fossicking 23rd August 2019 by Crissouli on That Moment in Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- August 24, 2019  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and    read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy, thanks so much for the mention today...and also a big hat tip to you for your synopsis of the "Reinvention of Ancestry" article you shared last week.
