SDGS Meeting on Saturday 12 April 2014 - "Witness to Gettysburg"

The monthly San Diego Genealogical Society meeting is this Saturday, 12 April 2014, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the St. Andrew's Lutheran Church at 8350 Lake Murray Blvd, near Jackson Drive in San Diego.

The program speaker is Annette Hubbell, who will present an enactment of a "Witness at Gettysburg."  In 2007, Annette and her husband, Monte, spent time visiting east coast historical venues. Out of that came a desire to research the Battle of Gettysburg, and that led to the writing of the one-woman performance entitled "Witness to Gettysburg."

Annette captivates audiences as Miss Hattie Elizabeth Turner.  Miss Turner (based on the real person of Hattie Elizabeth Unangst), relives the Battle of Gettysburg and a small town’s courageous efforts to care for 30,000 Union and Confederate casualties suddenly left in its aftermath, weaving into it stories of historic characters. This is a saga of brave men and women who by their actions came to symbolize the strength, fortitude, and character of the American people.
