Randy is Presenting Saturday, 11 July at San Diego Genealogical Society

Yours truly is the guest presenter at the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) meeting on Saturday, 11 July, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  SDGS meets at St. Andrews Lutheran Church (8350 Lake Murray Blvd in San Diego, just south of Jackson Drive).

My two talks will be:

1)  Researching Your Pennsylvania Ancestors:  Pennsylvania has a rich history, and a diverse trove of genealogical and family history records in their towns, counties, and state archives.  In this presentation, Randy will describe the sources for vital records, land records, probate records, town records, family history books and periodical articles for Pennsylvania resources, including significant brick-and-mortar repositories and online research opportunities.

2)  The Ten Best FREE Genealogy Websites:  Which free genealogy websites give the "most bang for the minute?"  This talk will highlight genealogy education, data portal, and record collection websites that all researchers can use to improve their research skills, find online records, and improve their family tree.

Between the two talks will be the world famous Annual Ice Cream Social, with different scoop flavors and toppings to enhance your sugar high.  You pay for what you request.

If you come to the meeting by 9 a.m. then you can sit in on Diane Gould Hall's "Using Social Media for Genealogy" in the upstairs classroom.

SDGS has a new website - see it at

I look forward to seeing many of my genea-friends at this event.
