Genealogy News Bytes - 30 May 2017


Some of the genealogy news items across my desktop the last two days include:

*  An interesting newspaper article in the Deseret News in March - "How technology revolutionized family history work in recent decades" by Trent Toone.  Highlights are a history of FamilySearch and comments by David Rencher and Richard Turley.

*  This week's Wednesday's Webinar on Family Tree Webinars features Michael L. Strauss, AG, on "The Great War: Researching Your World War I Ancestors."  Register on the link for the live webinar.  You can watch it for about a week after the live webinar.

*  MyHeritage will host a FREE webinar on Thursday, 1 June 2017, at 9 a.m. EDT (6 a.m. PDT) with Daniel Horowitz presenting "New Features and Best Practices" in MyHeritage.  The webinar can be viewed live and will be archived for later viewing.  See  https://blog.myheritage.com/2017/05/webinar-new-features-and-best-practices/ for details.

*  Bruce Durie has written an interesting article titled "What Is Genealogy? Philosophy, Education, Motivations and Future Prospects" that is included in the first issue of the new periodical Genealogy.  You can read it and download it at http://www.mdpi.com/2313-5778/1/1/4.
