Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 15 March 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Research Group   Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom, with 31 in attendance.  I reported on the RootsTech Conference, the MyHeritage Deep Nostalgia feature, free cloud storage for photos on FamilySearch, and the Relatives at RootsTech app.  In the second hour, several attendees shared their RootsTech experiences, research questions, challenges and successes.
\
2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society program on Saturday featuring Toni Perroni on "Journey to America" and "Changing Borders of Prussia."

3)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  We discussed voting and traditional costumes in Netherlands, the England 2021 census, census tools on Ed Thompson's YouTube channel, the FAN club concept, my Ann (--?--) Seaver search, Latin first names in church records, and the Family Tree Webinars 24-hour marathon.

5)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #584 Joseph Keyes (1667-1757) of Chelmsford and Westford, Massachusetts  for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday.

7)  AncestryDNA added 133 new DNA matches this past week, with three new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 36 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 30 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added 1 ThruLines to RootsMagic.

8)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 41,079 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 113).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 62,226 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 103), and 134,760 source citations (up 479).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 240 profiles, and I resolved 1,630 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 149,661 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release -- the most viewed post last week was "Using Ancestor Explorer for WikiTree to Generate an Ancestor List and Map" with over 772 views.

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 52 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  Linda went out to lunch with her friend on Friday and we went to the doctor on Monday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, and a little yard work (like picking up leaves).
