Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 27 October 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Moderated the San Diego Genealogical Society RootsMagic User's Group with 5 in attendance on Saturday.  We discussed TreeShare, WebHints, FamilySearch Family Tree profile matching, unlinking spouses and children, andm ore.  This ended early because I had the SDGS Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon to attend, and got there just in time to eat.

2)  We went to Disneyland on Sunday to celebrate my birthday, and my daughter's birthday.  We got there by 8:30 a.m., met Tami and the grandkids by 9:30.  Linda drove a motorized wheelchair there.  We went to California Adventure this time, and enjoyed Soaring Over the World (new to us), and the Little Mermaid ride (Lauren sang through it), and rode the Merry-Go-Round with Charlie.  We waited in line for Toy Story for 30 minutes before they told us it would be another 90 minutes.  We left at 2:30 and were at Tami's house by 3:30.  We went to dinner at 5 p.m., and were home by 8.  Very tired, but a memorable day.

3)  Participated in Mondays With Myrt today.  The panel discussed the Ancestry two-step verification problems, our disney trip, RootsTech London highlights from Liv, Hillary, John and Graham, using Ancestry Library Edition and getting images and sources.

4)  Edited my new presentation on, and created the syllabus for, "Researching in Historical Newspapers" which I will give at the 30 October CVGS general meeting.

5)  Watched one RootsTech London 2019 video -  The 24 October Keynote, featuring Dan Snow.

6)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandfather #512 Joseph Seaver (1672-1754) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.  This completes my known 6th great-grandparents and closer ancestors.

8) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 33,297 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 55,247 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 111,247 source citations.   I TreeShared once this week updating 95 profiles, and I resolved 224 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 120,716 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.  I blame the World Series for the low numbers resolved this week.

10) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which one was a press release.  The most popular post last week was Using the "Mining Ancestry.com Hints From a Specific Collection" Tool  with over 1673 views.
