San Diego Genealogical Society Super Saturday (9 November) Features Lisa Alzo

The next program meeting of the San Diego Genealogical Society is on Saturday, 9 November, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (8350 Lake Murray Blvd, San Diego CA 92119).  This is a "Super Saturday" event with an out-of-town speaker.  

The speaker will be Lisa Alzo, whose two talks will be:

*  Ten Ways To Jumpstart Your Eastern European Research

*  Crossing the Pond:  Successful Strategies for Researching Eastern Eyropean Ancestors

Lisa Ann Alzo, M.F.A., grew up in Duquesne, Pennsylvania , and currently resides in Ithaca, New York . She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1987 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Nonfiction Writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997.

Lisa began writing creatively in the fourth grade with an assignment entitled, “All About Me,” and went on to win several English/Writing awards in high school and college.  She is the author of ten books on genealogy and family history.

Lisa has published articles in Ancestry Magazine, Discovering Family History Magazine, Family Chronicle , Family Tree Magazine , Genealogical Computing, Reunions Magazine, NGSNews Magazine, Reunions Magazine, Western Pennsylvania History Magazine, FEEFHS Journal and Rocenka: Journal of the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International, The Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly.

An avid genealogist for 26 years, Lisa currently teaches online genealogy courses for Family Tree University and the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. She is the recipient of the 2002 Mary Zirin Prize given by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies to recognize the achievements of independent scholars, and is a frequently invited speaker for national conferences, genealogical and historical societies.

This FREE event includes a light lunch.  We request that you register for a lunch count and so we can provide sufficient seating.  Please see our event page here to register.

SDGS is phasing out having printed handouts at our meetings.  We respectfully request that you print out the two handouts on the Members page on the SDGS website and bring your own copy to the meeting.

There will be no 9 a.m. classes this month.

Please park in the main church parking lot, in the Jackson Drive parking lot, or on the street.Please do NOT park in the neighboring strip mall. Thank you in advance.
