Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 15 November 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Research Group Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday with 15 attendees.  We discussed my top 20 free genealogy websites, the RootsTech Connect 2021 conference, Family Tree Maker upgrade, 10 surprising things at Google Books, Wales church records on Ancestry, and mining the Newspaper.com obituaries on Ancestry.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society (SDGS) Program Meeting meeting on Saturday in a Zoom meeting with Del Ritchhart giving presentation the 4 C's of Genealogy and on GenSmarts.

3)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt Zoom webinar.  We discussed the Vivid-Pix education videos, my grandpa shirt, senior citizens on Zoom, history timelines, "relict" vs. "consort," German resources, software and online trees, and the British Newspaper Archive resources.

4)  Watched one Family Tree Webinars video - Use MyHeritage Records to Quickly Discover and Write the Story of Your Ancestors by Devon Noel Lee.

5)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandmother #567 Ruth (Cole) Young (1653-1728) of Eastham, Mass. for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

6)  Transcribed a probate record in 1704 Inventory for Intestate Estate of John Plimpton (1649-1704) of Medfield, Massachusetts for Amanuensis Monday today.

7)  Added Notes to 14 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors.  Ancestry added 31 new DNA matches this past week.  I added 1 more ThruLines to my RootsMagic tree.  MyHeritage added 20 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

8)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 38,655 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 120).

9)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 59,966 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 125), and 128,368 source citations (up 391).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 225 profiles, and I resolved 1,114 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 139,936 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.   I have 142,767 MyHeritage Record Matches to be resolved and work on them weekly.

10)  Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- In Childhood, What Did You Save or Collect?  with over 1,019 views.

11)  Received a wonderful birthday gift from my daughter Tami - a T-shirt with 27 photos of "Grandpa's Legacy" - my descendants!  Very cool!

12)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 35 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  We went to outdoors church on Sunday in the sun. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping, a little yard work, SDSU and Chargers football games, and I started another new crime fiction book on my laptop.
