Richard Sawtell (1611-1694) married Elizabeth --?-- (1615-1694) in about 1637 in Watertown. They had eleven children, all born in Watertown:
* Elizabeth Sawtell (1638-1676), married 1659 William Sterling (1639-1719).
* Jonathan Sawtell (1639-1690), married 1665 Mary Tarbell (1645-1676).
* Mary Sawtell (1640-1665), married 1664 Joseph Johnson (1636-1714).
* Hannah Sawtell (1642-1723), married 1665 Increase Winn (1641-1690)
* Enoch Sawtell (1643-1742), married 1672 Susanna Randall (1657-1720)
* Zachariah Sawtell (1644-1692), married (1) 1668 Elizabeth Harris (1644-1683); (2) 1684 Anna Parker (1663-????).
* Bethia Sawtell (1647-1714), married 1702 John Green (1647-1712).
* Obadiah Sawtell (1648-1741), married 1680 Hannah Lawrence (1662-1707).
* Ruth Sawtell (1650-1720), married 1677 John Hewes (1653-1721)
* Richard Sawtell (1653-1676).
* John Sawtell (1655-1700), married 1675 Elizabeth Post (1650-1700).
Richard Sawtell died 21 August 1694 in Watertown. In his will, he identified his wife as Elizabeth, and his living children as Enoch Sawtell, Obadiah Sawtell, John Sawtell, Bethia Sawtell, Hannah Winn and Ruth "Hues", , and children of sons Jonathan and Zacharias and daughter Elizabeth "Starling." An inventory was taken on 14 September 1694 and totaled £147-11-00, including the Watertown and Groton lands. The real estate was £127. The will was proved by the Probate Court on 24 September 1694. The will and inventory are the only records in the estate file.
Richard and Elizabeth (--?--) Sawtell are my 8th great-grandparents, through son Obadiah Sawtell (1648-1721) who married Hannah Lawrence (1662-1707) in 1680 in Watertown, Massachusetts.
