Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 22 to 28 August 2021

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Jumpstart Your Genealogy With FamilySearch by Amy Johnson Crow on Amy Johnson Crow.

RM 8 Light Bulb Settings by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

The Little Ice Age and Genealogy by Wayne Shepheard on Discover Genealogy.

Underwear Days by Jan Doerr on Vita Brevis.

Immigration:  The First and Last Big Challenge in Genealogical Research by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

Creating an Online DNA Tree by Donna Moughty on Irish Family Roots.

Finding On the Ground: Wrap Up by Ken McKinlay on Family Tree Knots.

*  23andMe vs Ancestry: Which DNA Test Is Best? (2021) by Margaret O’Brien on Data Mining DNA.

DMT 4.3 - New FTDNA File Format and Matching Algorithm by Louis Kessler on Behold Genealogy.

Amsterdam Trip by John Boeren on Antecedentia.

*  Mission Accomplished -- Capturing Blog Posts In Permanent Book Form (August 28, 2021) by John D. Tew on Filiopietism Prism.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 27th Aug 2021 by Crissouili on That Moment In Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme - August 28, 2021  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy: Thank you very much for mentioning the blog post, which marks my return to blogging after a long hiatus to capture all my years of posts into hardback book form. Much appreciated! I think the mention helped let readers know I am back to blogging on at least a limited basis until after that marriage of our younger son net month.
