Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 15 November 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Research Group Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 18 in attendance.  I reported on the 1921 England and Wales Census, Nathan Dylan Goodwin's book The Foundlings, and answered the question "How can I find records not on Ancestry or other record providers?"  Then presented "Using FamilySearch Digital Microfilm to Find Genealogical Records."

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society Program Meeting on Saturday on Zoom, with Jill morelli presenting information about Denmark and Swedish records and research.

3) Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt Zoom webinar. We discussed disproving an AncestryDNA match, city directories with death dates, the Evidence Explained process map, Tony Proctor's new SVG version software, Judy Russell's Native-American treaties post, Roberta Estes' new book, Google Photos, Iowa delayed birth certificates, and Roger Minert's books.

4) Transcribed a deed record in  1782 Deed of Norman Sever Buying Land in Westminster, Massachusetts From Thomas Farnsworth.

5) Published a genealogy biography of 7th great-grandfather #628 Crispus Richards (1681-1763) of Lynn, Massachusetts.

6) AncestryDNA added 23 new DNA matches this past week, with no new ThruLines, and MyHeritage added 17 new DNA matches. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Added Notes to 5 more AncestryDNA match with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors.

7)  TreeShared my RootsMagic 8 database to a new Ancestry Member Tree so that I could receive Ancestry Record Hints.  I wrote about this in RootsMagic Version 8 Progress in the Genealogy Cave.

8) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 45,828 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 193).

9) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 67,177 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 192 from last week), and 143,359 source citations (up 78). I TreeShared 227 modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 558 Ancestry Hints. I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 156,256 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

10) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts the past week, of which two were a press release. The most viewed post the past week was Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 31 October to 6 November 2021 with over 615 views.

11) I am still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 87 of COVID-19 isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day. The physical therapy is over and she cannot stand up or walk on her own and is bed-bound or lifted into the wheelchair.  The new wheelchair pad  has done the trick for her backpain.  The Aztecs won and the Chargers lost their games. I went to the dental hygienist on Monday.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and a little yard work.
