Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 25 April 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society monthly DNA Interest Group meeting on Wednesday with 34 in attendance.  We discussed  the new AncestryDNA SideView feature, the East Coast Genetic Genealogy Conference, and people of the British Isles.

2)  Watched the Family Tree Webinar by David Ouimette on "Proving Parentage Two Centuries LaterUsing DNA Evidence."  Excellent!

3)  Served as a panelist on today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  We discussed Dave's 1950 census question, the census codes, Frank's hanging file frame, Liuv's blogp ost about Mondays with Myrt, and study groups, followed by encomiums by the audience on DearMYRTLE's and Cousin Russ's retirements from vlogging with a panel of 130 plus about 30 on YouTube live.

4)  Published a genealogy biography of  #80 John Richman (1744-1808) of Hilperton, Wiltshire, England for the 52 Ancestors series.

5) Transcribed a probate record - 1857 Affidavit of Sale of Real Estate of Abraham W. Seaver of Townsend, Mass.  - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

6)  Started work on Leeds Method charts for 23andMe and MyHeritageDNA.  I really don't have enough "high value" matches on those sites.

7)  Started work on 1950 U.S. Census entries that add content to my RootsMagic tree from Ancestry suggested records.

8) AncestryDNA now has 39,890 DNA matches (up 66) for me this past week, with one new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,328 DNA matches (up 9) for me, with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 5 AncestryDNA matches and added one  ThruLines to RootsMagic.

9)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,989 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 11).

10) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,557 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 21 from last week), and 144,718 source citations (up 53). I TreeShared 36 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 632  Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 25,123 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

11) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Rabbit Holes With Randy - Genea-Blogging!!! with over 219 views.

12) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 110 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday.  I went to lunch with my Rohr colleagues on Thursday.  I watched the Padres games and we are now 10-7 on the season (4-2 the last week).  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and a little yard work.
