4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

John Richman was born before 3 June 1744, and christened on 3 June 1744 in the Hilperton, Wiltshire parish church[1-3].  He was the son of Joseph and Elisabeth (Rawlings) Richman of Hilperton.

John married Mary Parsons (1750-1802) on 26 March 1775 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, with banns posted on Sundays 5 March, 12 March and 19 March 1775[4-5].  She was the daughter of Robert and Mary (Harding) Parsons. John married another woman after 1764 but the records are unclear which woman it is. In the banns and marriage records in Trowbridge, John Richman is listed as a widower and Mary Parsons as a spinster. Both signed by marks.  The witnesses to the marriage were Joel Chivres and James Tyrrell.

John and Mary (Parsons) Richman had eight children, all but one with a christening record in Hilperton church:
*  Thomas Richman (1775-1851), married 1804 Martha Martin (1772-????).
*  Ann Richman (1777-1779).
*  Joseph Richman (1779-1865), married 1803 Grace Sartin (1778-1867).
*  Ann Richman (1782-????).
*  Mary Richman (1784-1864), married 1806 Stephen Sartin (1777-1864).
*  Phebe Richman (1787-1788).
*  John Richman (1789-1867), married 1811 Ann Marshman (1784-1856).
*  William Richman (1796-1852), married 1822 Sarah Osborn (1796-1851).

There was a John Rich who was christened on 27 September 1789 in Hilperton, the son of John and Mary Rich.  There were two daughters of John and Mary Rich christened in 1792 who may also be in this family.  They may be the children of John and Mary (Parson) Richman, since there are no other Rich families in Hilperton having children in the 1780-1800 time frame. Several children of Joseph Richman, son of John and Mary (Parsons) Richman, used the Rich name in Hilperton and Trowbridge records.

John Richman died before 21 December 1808 in Hilperton, where he was probably buried in the church yard[6-7]. There are no probate records for John Richman in the Wiltshire probate records.

NOTE:  The placing of John Richman (1789-1867) as a son of John and Mary (Parsons) Richman is supported by five DNA matches with common ancestors of John and Mary (Parsons) Richman through son Thomas Richman (one match with 10 cM) and son Joseph Richman (4 matches with 7 to 12 cM).  This is the author's current thinking and is subject to change if new information is obtained.

NOTE:  This genealogical sketch is out of Ahnentafel order because I found new information linking #40 John Richman Sophia Newton to his parents, John and Mary (Parsons) Richman.

NOTE: In 2014, Amy Johnson Crow suggested a weekly blog theme of "52 Ancestors" in her blog post 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks on the No Story Too Small blog. I have extended this theme in 2022 for a ninth year to 468 Ancestors in 468 Weeks. The (incomplete) list of 52 Ancestors biographies from my great-grandparents to the 7th great-grandparents (in work) is in https://www.geneamusings.com/p/ancestor-biographies.html.
