New Update to MyHeritageDNA Theory of Family Relativity™

I received this from Daniel Horowitz of MyHeritage today:

I’m excited to tell you that MyHeritage has just completed an additional update to the data for our ultimate genetic genealogy tool, Theory of Family Relativity™!

In case you’re still unfamiliar with Theory of Family Relativity™, this feature pulls together billions of data points from across all the family tree profiles and historical records on MyHeritage to bring you theories about how your DNA Matches may be related to you. The calculations are run on a periodic basis, and since our last update, countless new DNA kits, family tree profiles, and historical records have been added to MyHeritage.

This means that the number of theories, the number of DNA Matches that include a theory, and the number of kits that have a theory have all increased significantly — and so have your chances of getting a new theory! As a result of this new update 25,636,711 Theories of Family Relativity™ were added.

Check out our blog post to learn more about this update.

Before this update, I had 15 Theory of Family Relativity MyHeritage DNA matches.  Now I have 17 ToFR matches.

Disclosure:  I receive a complimentary subscription to MyHeritage, and gave received other material consideration in past years.  I uploaded my autosomal DNA raw data to their DNA product.  This does not affect my objective analysis of MyHeritage products.

I was surprised to learn about 18 months ago that they only update their TOFR listings about 3 or 4 times a year (at best). I have suggested to Daniel Horowitz a couple times that they should do it more frequently. In my last correspondence with him he indicated that after this update they were hoping to do it more frequently. I submitted DNA for one of my 1st cousins this past January and have had to wait until now to get any TOFR listing for him--not good! They are such a strong technology company and have so many positives that this surprises me. . . . Del
