COVID-19 Has Infected Genea-Musings

5 December:

Genealogy blogging is on hold for the time being since I tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

My wife Linda also tested positive on Friday and we had to cancel her birthday party.  We visited Linda on Saturday fully masked and PPE equipped to celebrate her birthday in her room.  Lori brought birthday presents for her.

I feel really crappy. Didn't sleep well on Sunday night with a slight fever.

Update: 6 December:

I contacted the doctor yesterday and he sent a prescription to the pharmacy for Paxlovid.  It's five days, 6 big pills a day, morning and evening.

Brother and sister-in-law Paul and Deb picked up the prescription and also added to my food cache.

My fever has gone away so I slept pretty good last night.  I dozed much of the day on Tuesday.

I called Linda's nurse on Tuesday and she said Linda was progressing well.

Thank God for spell check - my typing has gotten much worse.

Update:  7 December:

I'm in Day 3 of  the Paxlovid regimen.

Didn't sleep well again.  4 hours in bed, and 3 hours in the recliner.

Not much interest in doing much genealogy work.  I need to update my ongoing compendium pages for Amanuensis Monday and 52 Ancestors posts.

Hosted the CVGS Board Meeting on Zoom.

I'm still debating whether to send only an email Christmas letter rather than printing dozens of copies and sending it to my current Christmas card list plus email.

I need to start preparing for income taxes too - updating MSMoney for the bank and credit card accounts.

Update: 8 December:

This is Day 4 of the Paxlovid treatments.  The only side effects I've experienced are a dry mouth that tastes like the pills themselves.

I wrote the Findmypast post because it was available and I didn't have to think too much.

Updated the Amanuensis Monday post compendium. See   https://www.geneamusings.com/p/amanuensis-monday-posts.html.

Got my two bank accounts up-to-date in MSMoney but need to work through the credit card statements.

My church friend Zoila did grocery shopping for me.

Update: 9 December:

Day 5 (the last) of Paxlovid treatments is today.  I still have a "wet" nose (not runny) and a dry cough, so I may need to isolate for a few more days.  I will wait two days to take another COVID test.

I wrote the Ancestry.com new/upcoming record collection post today.  It took longer than I figured.  Rewarded myself with a nap.

Talked to Linda on the phone today for the first time since Sunday.  I think she is back in the activities center now.  Maybe it was a false positive?  If so, how did I get it?

I'm sorry to hear this news. Sending positive healing vibes to you.

Makes you wonder how ancestors got through tough times.
