Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1677 Birth Record of Solomon Carpenter in Rehoboth, Massachusetts

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1677 birth record of  Solomon Carpenter in Rehoboth, Massachusetts:

The birth  record is the 25th record down the page in the Carpenter section:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"[CARPENTER, of Samuell and Sarah] i 9 Solomon, Dec. 23 1677"

The source citation for this record is:

"Massachusetts, U.S., Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988," indexed database and digital images, (, "Rehoboth > Vital Record Transcripts," Births, page 571 (image 603 of 956), Solomon Carpenter, son of Samuell and Sarah birth entry, 23 December 1677; citing original data from Massachusetts town and city clerk records in Jay and Delene Holbrook, Massachusetts Vital and Town Records (Provo, Utah : Holbrook Research Institute), Microfiche collection.

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Solomon Carpenter in Rehoboth, Massachusetts in 1677.  The original record is probably in a Rehoboth town record book that is no longer extant.

Solomon Carpenter (1677-1750) was born on 23 December 1677 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, the son of Samuel and Sarah (Redway) Carpenter.  He married Elizabeth Tefft (1687-b1750) in about 1702 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.  They had six children.

Solomon and Sarah (Redway) Carpenter are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son, Daniel Carpenter (1712-1763) who married Renewed Smith (1712-a1763) on 29 April 1733 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
