Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 16 to 22 July 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Publish Your Family History Easily with MyHeritage Family Books! by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes In Your Family.

Best Websites – Historypin.org – An Interview with Sunny Jane Morton by editors on Family Tree Magazine.

*   Hank Jones puts his works online at Ancestry James M. Beidler on Roots and Branches.

*  Search Tips for Researching Military Records on Fold3® by Jenny Ashcraft on Fold3HQ.

*  Using Websites’ Catalogs: FamilySearch by Cari Taplin on Genealogy Pants.

*  Collateral Relatives: Who They Are & Why They Matter to Genealogy by Andrew Koch on Family Tree Magazine.

*  Converting My Personal Library to Digital by Dick Eastman on Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter.

*  Asking For A Friend by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  Experimental Search by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  Google Books Just Got WAY Better! New Features Tutorial by Lisa Louise Cooke on Lisa Louise Cooke.

*  The 1851 Religious Census of Britain by Chris Paton on Scottish GENES.

*  The Great Migration of African Americans 1915-1970 by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  How to Solve Your Genealogy Roadblocks by Maddy on Family Wise.

*  How Much Does It Cost To Hire a Genealogist? and What To Expect When Working With Legacy Tree Genealogists by Legacy Tree Genealogists.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 21st July 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - July 22, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
