Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1704 Marriage Record of Ezekiel Worthen and Abigail Carter in Amesbury, Massachusetts

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1704 marriage record of Ezekiell Wathen and Abigail Carter in Salisbury, Massachusetts:

The marriage record in the WORTHEN listing:

The transcription of this birth record is:

"[WORTHEN] Ezekiel, Jr., of Amesbury, and Abigail Carter, at Amesbury, Dec. 26, 1704*"

The source citation for this marriage record is:

Topsfield Historical Society, Vital Records of Salisbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 (Topsfield, Mass. : Topsfield Historical Society, 1915), Marriages, page 520, Ezekiel Worthen and Abigail Carter entry, in "Amesbury," 26 December 1704.

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage of Ezekiel Worthen of Amesbury, Massachusetts and Abigail Carter. The original record is probably in an Amesbury town record book that may no longer be available.

Ezekiel Worthen (1672-1755) was born 18 May 1672 in Amesbury, Massachusetts Bay.  He married Abigail Carter (1686-1752) on 26 December 1704 in Amesbury, Massachusetts Bay.  Abigail was born 7 March 1686 in Salisbury, the daughter of John and Martha (Brown) Carter of Salisbury.  Ezekiel and Abigail had 11 children.

Ezekiell and Abigail (Carter) Worthen are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their daughter Abigail Worthen (1714-????)  who married 1736 to Joseph Colby (1707-1768).
