Seavers in the News -- Obituary of George Alton Seaver (1914-1977) of Pensacola, Florida

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Pensacola [Fla.] News Journal newspaper dated Thursday, 16 June 1964, page 6B, Column 1:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides only the name, age, home address, death day and place, birthplace and residences, occupation, military experiences, services, associations, burial, and the names of his wife, children, and a sibling; but no birth date, or parents names.

George Alton Seaver (1914-1977) was born 29 March 1914 in Wareham, Massachusetts, the son of Ozro Hudson and Florence Louise (Barnes) Seaver.  He married Jeanne Elizabeth Frye (1917-1994) in 1945 in Orange, Massachusetts.  They had three sons:

*  George Alton Seaver (1948-????).
*  Bruce Edward Seaver (1951-????), married 1983 Carol Anne Cupit (1945-????).
*  Christopher Jonathan Seaver (1954-????), married 1995 Jeane Allison Meeks (1960-????).

George Alton Seaver (1914-1977) is probably a distant cousin of mine, but I don't know the parents of his 2nd great-grandfather Joseph T. Seaver (1805-????), who married Betsey N. Davis (1810-1868) in 1830 in Taunton, Massachusetts.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this is one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a man serves his country over a long period of time.  I am glad that I can honor George Alton Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
