Anna Mattison Auble was born 24 February 1859 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey, the 5th child and 3rd daughter of David and Sarah G. (Knapp) Auble.[1-2]
In the 1860 United States census, the David Auble family resided in the Fourth Ward of Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.[3] The family included:
- David Auble -- age 42, male, worked in a shoe store, had personal property of $500, born NJ
- Sarah Auble -- age 39, female, born NJ
- Wm A. Auble -- age 15, male, born NJ, attended school
- Mary F. Auble -- age 13, female, born NJ, attended school
- Chas Auble -- age 11, male, born NJ, attended school
- Kate Auble -- age 8, female, born NJ
- Anna Auble -- age 1, female, born NJ
The David Auble moved from Newark, New Jersey to Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana in about 1865.
In the 1870 United States census, the Daniel Auble family resided in Terre Haute city, Vigo County, Indiana.[4] The household included:
- Daniel Auble (perhaps this is a census taker's error for David, it is obviously the David Auble family) -- age 53, male, a boot and shoemaker, with $2,500 in real estate and $200 in personal property, born NJ
- Sarah Auble -- age 50, female, keeping house, born NJ
- Mary Auble -- age 23, female, a teacher, born NJ
- Charles Auble -- age 21, male, a painter, born NJ
- Kate Auble -- age 17, female, at home, born NJ, attended school
- Anna Auble -- age 10, female, at home, born NJ, attended school
- Cora Auble -- age 8, female, at home, born NJ, attended school
In the 1880 US census, the David Auble family resided at 40 Chestnut Street in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.[6] The household included:
- David Auble -- white, male, age 63, married, shoemaker, born NJ, father and mother born NJ
- Sarah G. Auble -- white, female, age 62, wife, married, keeps house, born NJ, father born NY, mother born NJ)
- Charles Auble -- white, male, age 30, son, single, painter, born NJ, parents born NJ
- Fannie Auble -- white, female, age 32, daughter, single, at home, born NJ, parents born NJ
- Katherine Auble -- white, female, age 24, daughter, single, at home, born NJ, parents born NJ
- Anna M. Auble -- white, female, age 20, daughter, single, at home, born NJ, parents born NJ
Anna Mattison Auble married Henry Shannon Buntin on 7 December 1888 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.[1,6] Henry was born in March 1856 in Indiana, the son of Touissant Campbell and Emma (Steele) Buntin. Henry died in 1904 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois, leaving Anna with three young children. The children were:
- David Campbell Buntin, born 25 November 1889 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois, died 14 May 1952 in Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois. He married Josephine Norcross on 16 April 1913 in Alabama. She was born 17 July 1890 in Illinois, and died 8 October 1984 in Kewanee, Henry County, Illinois.
- Henry Shannon Buntin, born 23 April 1895 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinos, died 15 April 1963 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinos. He married Ruth King (1898-1981) on 27 December 1919 in Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois. She was born 12 May 1898 in Illinois, and died in September 1981 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois.
- Catharine Buntin (1897-1992), born 14 May 1897 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois, died 2 August 1992 in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, California. She married Willism Seaver Deeming (1900-1993). He was born 26 March 1900 in Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri, and died 19 September 1993 in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, California.
In the 1900 United States Census, the Henry S. Buntin family resided in Ward 1, Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois on Washington Street. The household included:
- Henry S. Buntin - Head, white, male, born Mar 1856, age 44, married, for 11 years, born Indiana, father born Indiana, mother born Pennsylvania, occupation is insurance, on own account, can read and write, speaks English, owns home with a mortgage.
- Anna A. Buntin - Wife, white, female, born Feb 1860, age 40, married, for 11 years, 3 children born, 3 living, born New Jersey, father born New Jersey, mother born New Jersey, no occupation, can read and write, speaks English.
- David D. Buntin - Son, white, male, born Nov 1889, age 10, single, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey, At School, attended school, can read and write, speaks English.
- Henry G. Buntin - Son, white, male, born April 1895, age 5, single, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey.
- Catharine Buntin - Daughter, white, female, born May 1897, age 3, single, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey.
In the 1910 United States census, the Anna Buntin family resided in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois at 369 Main Street with her sisters and her children.[6] The household included:
- Anna Buntin - Head, female, white, age 49, a widow, 3 children born, 3 living, born New Jersey, father born New Jersey, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, runs a Boarding house, a house keeper, on own account, can read and write, owns house free of mortgage.
- David C. Buntin - Son, male, white, age 20, single, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, a watchmaker, own shop, on own account, can read and write.
- Henry O. Buntin - Son, male, white, age 15, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, no occupation, can read and write, attended school.
- Catherine Buntin - Daughter, female, white, age 12, single, born Illinois, father born Indiana, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, no occupation, can read and write, attended school.
- Frances M. Auble - Sister, female, white, age 63, single, born New Jersey, father born New Jersey, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, no occupation, can read and write.
- Catherine Auble - Sister, female, white, age 58, single, born New Jersey, father born New Jersey, mother born New Jersey, speaks English, no occupation, can read and write.
Anna Mattison (Auble) Buntin died in 1913 in Bushnell, McDonough County, Illinois.[9] She was buried with her husband in Bushnell Cemetery in Bushnell.[9]
