Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Night again -
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
1) When was the last time you visited the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, or visited a local FamilySearch Center?
2) What record collections are on your To-Do List, whether at the FamilySearch Library, or a FamilySearch Center, or the Full-Text Search feature online, or Digital Microfilm on the Images or Catalog Link on the FamilySearch.org website?
3) Share a link to your blog post, or your Facebook Status post, on this post.
Here's mine:
My last trip to the FamilySearch Library (FSL) in Salt Lake City was in 2020 while at the RootsTech conference. The last time I did some useful research there was while at the 2018 RootsTech conference.
The last time I visited a local FamilySearch Center (FSC) was probably in about 2018 when I copied many images from the "Library only" digital microfilm for the Hilperton, Wiltshire, Tax Assessment List which listed residents there along with property owners, but I gathered information only up to 1793.
I continue to search the available FamilySearch Catalog images, the Images collection, and the Full-Text Search feature, mainly land records, on a regular basis.
I started a To-Do list of items I need to find, review and capture (if available) at the FSL or FSC - here is what is on my list at this time:
- More pages from the Hilperton Tax Assessment List after 1793 to help identify where my Richman, Rich, Marshman and Angel ancestors resided, and when they left.
- Surveyors' account book 1840-1852 and overseers poor rate book 1824- 1868, Hilperton, Wiltshire to see if my Richman, Rich, Marshman and Angel ancestors are listed.
- Killingly, Connecticut Land Records, 1709-1907 to determine if my Richman/Richmond, White, Oatley, Wade and other ancestors had land transactions.
- Putnam, Connecticut Land Records, 1855-1908 to determine if my Richman/Richmond and Rich ancestors had land transactions.
- Fairfield, Connecticut First Congregational Church Records, 1694-1806 to determine if my Wakeman, Bulkley, Hill, Hubbell and other ancestors have records.
- Fairfield, Connecticut Greenfield Church Records, 1668-1881 to determine if my Wakeman, Bulkley, Hill, Hubbell and other ancestors have records.
- Frederick, Maryland Land Records, 1748-1851 to determine if Frederick Houx and Henry Geringer had land transactions.
I need to do more searching for other ancestors, especially with land and probate records. All of the above are in the FamilySearch Catalog, but, apparently, the land records are not in the Full-Text Search because they are in the "Library only" collections.

This is a good one Randy. I was at the FHL for Rootstech this past Feb/Mar. I didn't have as much luck as I usually do, but then I didn't try real hard either. Plus I came down with Covid my last 2 days there. But, during Rootstech 2023, I made a BIG discovery on my husband, Ron's, family line. My discovery was quite a shock to his cousins. Here's my blog post about it. http://www.michiganfamilytrails.com/2023/03/fhl-finds-marriage-of-johann-talarowski.html
