Treasure Chest Thursday Post 300: 1777 Military Records of Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785)

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the  1777 town record providing payment to Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785) for his Revolutionary War service.


The entry for Jeremiah Knowlton:


The transcription of this record is:

"June Do [15th]  By Seventeen Pounds five shillings paid
                             Jeremiah Knowlton for his Service in a
                             Campaign at New York in the year 1776
                             and at Saratoga in the year 1777                 17  5  0"

Jeremiah Knowlton (1745-1785) is my 5th great-grandfather, who married (1) Abigail Pierce (1750-1776), through their daughter Abigail Knowlton (1774-1855) who married Nathan Gates and resided in Gardner, Massachusetts.
