4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Elisabeth Pickel was born 3 November 1764 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, the third child of Henry and Elizabeth (..-..) Pickel.  Her father and grandfather Pickel both died about a year after she was born.

She married, as Elisabeth Bikel,  Jacob Zavering on 1 March 1781 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick, Hunterdon County, New Jersey[2].  They had four children in Hunterdon County, New Jersey between 1782 and 1787 - an unnamed son who died at age 3, Elizabeth, Frederick and Henry Baltis Sovereign.  The church records for the birth and baptism of Elisabeth and Henry Baltis name the parents as Jacob Zavering and Elisabeth.

The sketch for Jacob Sovereign in the book Pioneer Sketches of Long Point Settlement indicates that the Jacob Sovereign family arrived in the 1790s in Norfolk County, Ontario.  There they raised their family.  Jacob had a tavern in Charlotteville, and lived out their lives[1].

The only record of the death of Elizabeth (Pickle) Sovereen is her gravestone in Delhi Cemetery in Delhi, Ontario[3].  The inscription on the in-ground stone is:

ELIZABETH
wife of
Jacob Sovereen
died
Jan. 2, 1849
AE 86 yrs

This is not a comment on this subject but on the fact that sometimes I see "comment using the above url" but I don't see a url.

I wanted to comment on naming women - I also find My Heritage using the married name annoying. When I don't know the maiden name of a woman I use the husband's name with parenthesis ie Mary (Doe John). The names sort at the beginning of the name list on my private program letting me know I need to work on finding a maiden name, lets me know who Jane belongs to and helps me sort out all the Marys without last names in my data base. Ancestry doesn't seem to have problems finding hints for me when I do this. Familysearch does, but Familysearch is not as good finding info on married names when one uses the maiden name as Ancestry. I find when I don't get info on a woman after she has married, I need to put the married name in the search template. Your hints are very helpful.
