I and eight of my Chula Vista Genealogical Society colleagues will be at the Family History Fair in Escondido on Saturday. Some of us will man the CVGS booth in the Exhibit Hall and most of us will attend six presentations during the day. The program schedule shows ten different speakers in 36 different sessions. Several speakers are slated for 3 or 4 sessions.
I signed up for the six different time periods, but I can't recall exactly which ones I picked. They will have my schedule at the registration desk along with my syllabus.
I think that the classes I signed up for were:
* 9 a.m. - Keynote speaker, Leland Meitzler "This is Not Your Father's Oldsmobile - Genealogy in 2009."
* 10:10 a.m. - Barbara Renick - "Eleven Layers of Online Searches"
* 11:20 a.m. - Debby Horton - "British Parish Records, Beyond the Basics"
* 1:20 p.m. - Leland Meitzler - "State and Territorial Census"
* 2:30 p.m. - Barbara Renick - "Search Engines for Genealogists"
* 3:40 p.m. - Jean Hibben - "New FamilySearch"
I hope to take decent notes from these sessions and be able to summarize them during or immediately after the talks on my laptop. I don't think that there will be a wireless Internet connection in the Family History Center area, but I may be wrong. There has been no information given out about it, but I didn't ask. We'll see, I guess!
You will still get your daily does of Genea-Musings...I've already written two posts that will post on Saturday while I'm away in Escondido, including the much awaited Saturday Night Fun post.
Welcome to my genealogy blog. Genea-Musings features genealogy research tips and techniques, genealogy news items and commentary, genealogy humor, San Diego genealogy society news, family history research and some family history stories from the keyboard of Randy Seaver (of Chula Vista CA), who thinks that Genealogy Research Is really FUN!
