Who Messed Up my Original Image "Interactive View" on Ancestry.com??? FIXED!!!

UPDATED 4 p.m. on 6 November 2013:  Ancestry.com has been fixed for me somehow - see my post at http://www.geneamusings.com/2013/11/whew-ancestrycom-is-working-well-for-me.html

I have no clue what's happened to my "Original Image" view on Ancestry.com.  Is it something that has happened to my Ancestry.com cookies or something?

I noticed it for the first time last night - I did a search for my grandfather in the 1940 U.S. Census and got the record summary, and clicked on the "View image" link, and saw this:

The header material takes up half the page.  I could not Save the image using the "Save" button - the links that usually appear were not active.

Today, I did the same search and the screen above still appeared.  But then it quickly (within seconds) switched to the view below:

And down at the bottom of the web page, it looked like:

I noted that I was using the "Interactive Viewer" for the search above.  When I chose the "Basic viewer" on the Record Summary page, I saw:

At least I can use the "Basic Viewer" for my searches but I usually use the "Interactive Viewer."

I also did the same search from within the RootsMagic WebSearch and did not have the problem.

Maybe I should try it on my laptop too.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Will signing in and out of Ancestry.com solve the problem?  Will deleting my browser cookies solve the problem?  Or is it an Ancestry.com problem?

I emailed my Ancestry.com contact asking about this perceived problem this morning, but have heard nothing back yet.

Randy,

When you look at a record from within Roots Magic 6, does it use your Default Browser, or an internal "browser" or pieces of a browser like Family Tree Maker does?

Russ, what I see in the RootsMagic WebSearch window is the "Interactive Viewer" in Ancestry.com. I don't know what browser it uses (I use Chrome for everything now when i'm online). I can switch to the Basic viewer.

When I'm online in Chrome now, it defaults to the Interactive viewer and I can't change it to Basic viewer for anything but several census years.

Randy,

I'll have to see what I see. I am only asking the question because of what FTM2014 uses and there are issues with the Web Search at times. Not is this specific area, but if I have a Find-A-Grave Index hint from Ancestry.com it will NOT open the Find-A-Grave window.

Thank you,

Russ

I had trouble at ancestry last night. Nothing like yours but I was humming along, saving images and then, Poof! Wouldn't save anything. So I chose the "Save and open" option which it did do. So?? This isn't a first and it's VERY annoying!
