Mia in San Diego in November 2015 -- Post 387 for (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I'm posting old (and sometimes new) family photographs from my collection on Wednesdays, but they won't be wordless posts like others do - I am incapable of having a wordless post.

One of the charter members of the Olympic Shopping Team from Finland visited San Diego last week on business.  Mia came to us as a teenager in 1994 on a foreign student exchange program for three weeks, and she, and we, had a marvelous and memorable experience.  Since then, she has visited in 2000 and 2005, and now in 2015.  Now she is a wife, a mother of two, and employed at the University of Oulu in Finland.

Here are some of the most precious (to me) images from my Seaver/Carringer photograph collection:

1)  We picked Mia up at her hotel on Wednesday, and drove to Carlsbad to meet up with our daughter Tami and her three children.  We shopped (well, duh!) for three hours, then went to Miguel's for dinner:

2)  On Friday, we picked up Mia in downtown San Diego and went to dinner at Marie Callender's (it was nice and quiet and we could talk and share photos).  Here are Mia and Linda enjoying their lemon meringue pie (I had some too):

It was great fun revisiting "old times" and learning about her family.  We then went shopping at Wal-Mart for an hour, and ended up at our home to show Mia the house remodel we did about 9 years ago.  She liked it - much different from what she remembered!  I even took a selfie of the three of us:

Mia has visited Chicago, Boston, San Diego and is in Washington D.C. now as part of the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.  It was pure luck that she drew San Diego as a visit location.
