Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 289: 1711 Marriage Record of Thomas Allen and Sarah Grande in Sudbury, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the  1711 Marriage record of Thomas Allen and Sarah Grande in Sudbury, Massachusetts:

The marriage record snippet is, from the top of the right-hand page above:

The transcription of this record is:

Thomas Allen & Sarah Grande were joyned
in marrige June the 27th .....................1711

The source citation for this record is:

Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, digital images, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com), Wayland Births, Marriages and Deaths, page 197, Thomas Allen and Sarah Grande marriage entry, image 101 of 1050; citing original data from Massachusetts town and city clerk records in Jay and Delene Holbrook, Massachusetts Vital and Town Records (Provo, Utah : Holbrook Research Institute), Microfiche collection.

This record is a derivative source, since it is so neatly handwritten - it was probably copied from the original handwritten town clerk records in volumes not extant when the Holbrook microfilms were produced.  There is another source for this record, in the published vital record book for Sudbury:

The information in this work for the marriage is:

ALLEN
Thomas and Sarah Grande, June 27, 1711.

The source citation for this record is:

Vital Records of Sudbury, Massachusetts to the year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Marriages, page 163, Thomas Allen and Sarah Grande entry.

The book is another derivative source, derived from either the original town record book or the record book copy noted above.

Thomas Allen and Sarah Grande are my 7th great-grandparents.  This is the only record I have with Sarah's name - I don't know who her parents are.  The surname may be Grand, Grund, Grandy, Grundy, etc.  Or something else!
