I'm writing a biography of Joanna and want to tell you that there are questions about her Slocum parents and, especially, grandparents. Not at all clear in my mind that her father Giles was the son of Philipe Slocum and Charity Bickham. DNA evidence tells us he was related in some way to Anthony Slocum, but I believe that is all the proven relationship we really have. Questions also exist about her daughter Mercy (or Mary.) Father's will says she was a Cook, but again, how? No evidence beyond this that I have found. Have not found proof that her son Samuel married a Wolverton, either, although documents indicate his first wife's name was Mary.
Joanna was an interesting woman in her own right!
